The 26 best spa hotels in Cairns (2025)

Crystalbrook Riley is a luxurious resort hotel located in Cairns, Australia that offers a pool, spa, and many other amenities. The hotel is set within a picturesque waterfront area and has 311 stylish rooms and suites. Among the features of the property are an expansive lagoon pool and private beach as well as the city's first rooftop bar, Rocco.

Highly recommend. Rooms were spotless and housekeeping made up our room daily and could not be faulted. Every staff member went above and beyond, however a special mention to Sara in paper crane who made mum and I feel so welcomed every morning for their amazing buffet breakfast. That buffet breakfast has every item you could think off that could/should be on a breakfast menu. QR codes at every pool cabana so we could order mojitos and snacks that would be delivered with a smile. Towel service for the amazing swimming pools. 3 venues on site for F & B. I’m sitting at home now with my complimentary slippers on and face mask that I purchased from the day spa, wishing I was back there. Do yourself a favour and experience Riley, you will not be disappointed.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, offering probably the best bars and restaurants within the Crystalbrook portfolio in Cairns. We visited a few of them and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the excellent service. The pool bar also adds a nice touch and has a great vibe. However, there are a few areas where the hotel falls short of its "luxury" branding. It seems like cost-cutting measures are evident, especially with the mini-bar experience. Unlike other premium hotels like Crown or Star, where complimentary items such as bottled water, snacks, or wine are standard, this hotel provides none of those extras despite having similar pricing.Additionally, the in-room amenities are minimal. The mini kit lacked essentials like a toothbrush or toothpaste—only a shower cap and soap were provided. For a hotel positioned as a luxury offering, this feels inadequate.Overall, while the service provided by the staff was exceptional—professional, intelligent, and attentive—the overall experience doesn't match the luxury standard the hotel advertises. The pricing is noticeably higher than many other Cairns hotels, and unfortunately, it doesn’t justify the premium in terms of amenities or complimentary offerings. If you're looking for great dining and service, this hotel delivers, but don't expect the full luxury experience promised in its branding.

Don’t stay here! What was meant to be a romantic anniversary weekend turned into a 1hr 40min stay filled with disappointment, disbelief, and anger. From the moment we arrived, we were unpleasantly greeted by a receptionist who was incredibly rude and caused us great upset. Upon entering our room, we were immediately greeted by a strong smell of mold, which was quite off-putting. The room itself “panoramic sea view” offered only a partial view, and definitely not as pictures advertise online so we were left feeling underwhelmed. However, the most distressing incident occurred when a staff member unexpectedly and without any announcement knocked lightly on our door, then proceeded to unlock it and enter the room while the "do not disturb" sign was on and clearly displayed. My partner and I were in the middle of changing, and this invasion of our privacy left us both exposed and mortified. Understandably, this completely ruined our sense of safety and comfort, leading us to promptly check out.I feel compelled to share my experience with others, as I have traveled extensively and stayed in numerous hotels around the world, and I have never encountered such behavior, lack of customer service, or disregard for security and guest privacy. The staff's response to our concerns was underwhelming, offering little to no resolution beyond a superficial apology for the embarrassment caused. It is evident that there is a significant breach in security, integrity, and overall care for guests.

Lovely hotel but certainly not 5 star! Rooms were lovely but very basic. Some more facilities such as some plates & cutlery would be lovely. Staff were rude. Not friendly & welcoming at all! Breakfast at the buffet was average. Was told my toddler daughter was free then charged for her. Pool lovely but some areas quiet dirty & outdated like the spa. This place has so much potential however is certainly not 5 star! Perhaps the staff need to go & visit a 5 star hotel like Crown Towers in Melbourne to learn a lesson or two on customer satisfaction!

Warning: Don't Overpay for Disappointing Rooms!Don't book this hotel for more than $250 a night! The upgraded rooms and sea views are often a bait-and-switch. We paid for a sea view, but got a room with an obstructed view instead. And we're not alone—just check the flood of similar complaints on Google. The management seems uninterested in fixing this issue, continuing to charge premium rates for rooms that don't match the photos or descriptions. If you must stay, stick to a basic room just to access the pool and public areas. Anything more is a gamble with your money! Also, be prepared for a musty smoke smell in the rooms—many guests have reported this unpleasant issue too.I’ll be submitting a complaint to the ACCC regarding this misleading experience. If you’ve had a similar issue, make sure to upload your photos and share your story so it can be properly investigated.

We stayed for about 5 nights recently and I would recommend Crystalbrook Riley as one of the best places in Cairns for accommodation. We had a king size resort room with a good size balcony, comfy chairs and a view of the massive pool and sea views. Room size is good, bed very comfortable, modern bathroom, service checks each day if you need anything otherwise you are not bothered too much. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Relaxed vibe with a great bar at the front with views out to the bay and bar menu, a great restaurant on the roof with Rocco. Lovely spa for a massage. Lap pool if needed and great pool for families with drink/food service. Location opposite esplanade is excellent and you can easily walk into town.

The front desk attitude was average. Room service never answered the phone. There were ants by the coffee machine, and dust on the wall next to the bed. The main issue is that I booked a 2-night city-view and 3-night sea-view panoramic room, but the hotel gave me a room with mostly city views, which didn’t match the pictures. The pictures showed floor-to-ceiling windows with ocean views, yet I got a room with mostly city views, and they charged me an extra $100 per night. The most important issue is that in most hotels, the minibar has free snacks like chips or small treats, but at this hotel, the minibar had nothing, and no price list was provided! I had no idea! When I asked the front desk, they told me there was a QR code to scan, but the QR code said "Scan me if you're thirsty or hungry" – which would make any normal person think this QR code was for room service or ordering snacks. I stayed for 5 nights and spent $2000 total , and while I can afford chips and nuts, this feels like a hidden charge to trick customers into extra costs. My experience was very poor. By the way one of the has yellow hair and tall guy carry the baggage for us is very kind, and introduce the scooter app to us, this is the only I can feel comfortable.

Good location, rooms and view is amazing. The rooms are clean and room service do a good job. Showers are incredible. The pool is heated and spacious perfect for kids. Paper crane breakfast is well priced however the deep fried food is very oily. My only gripe is that I’m disappointed a 5 star hotel doesn’t welcome you, take your bags to the room or offer valet parking, reception staff not overly friendly, welcoming or helpful.

We stayed for 5 nights in room 706, as a couple. It was a quiet room and the beds so, so comfortable, ( I need to know the brand, I want to go buy one) the pillow menu adds to the luxury,The resort caters for families as well as couples, it has a fabulous vibe that we enjoyed, the staff are happy and wonderful across the resort, nothing is too much trouble. We had a wonderful time and would recommend staying at Riley

It seems like booking a “Sea View” room here is a roulette—there’s no guarantee you’ll get the sea view shown on the website. Just get the cheapest rooms here. No point getting upgrades. Better yet, book a different hotel that keeps its promises and offers fair prices. The room did not match the description or photos on their website, which clearly showcase unobstructed ocean views. Instead, my room was in an older section with a partially obstructed view due to a tin roof below. Pictures of the actual room and advertised room are included. To make matters worse, there was a faint cigarette smell in the room, which affected the overall experience.I paid over $100 extra for an upgraded room with a better view, but what I received fell far short of expectations.I was looking forward to enjoying a morning coffee on the balcony with a beautiful sea view, but this was not possible due to the obstructed view. My husband's face fell when he saw the views and i felt like i let him down. We just went for a walk along the esplanade instead of spending time in the room. It felt like a better way to spend our limited time.I wrote an email to management and they tried to put it back on me saying why didn't I talk to the reception earlier. I don't think I need to explain this: most people don't go on vacations to waste time on complaints, but still, here's why:I only stayed one night due to a flight cancellation, so I had limited time to address the issues with staff. I was also too tired after my flight disruption to complain about the faint smoke smell, which lingered as I tried to rest in bed before catching my replacement flight early next morning. The hotel has since offered a future upgrade, but as I live interstate and do not plan to return to Cairns anytime soon, this offer is not helpful.Overall, I feel let down by the misleading advertising. For the price I paid, I expected better views and would advise others against booking the Sea View room, or rather this hotel altogether.I believe in giving fair reviews and will say this: the pool is nice. But just remember that there are many other hotels in this area with nice pools.

An amazing place to stay. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast menu vast. The restaurants onsite made a very memorable holiday. We will be back to stay again next year!

stayed at Crystalbrook Riley, and it was an unforgettable experience. The highlight was definitely the spa massage, a luxurious and memorable stay, complements the hotel's high standards of comfort and service. The bar at Crystalbrook Riley features a stylish atmosphere, top-notch cocktails, and excellent service, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing evening. 🤍

This resort is in a great spot in Cairns.Apart from location, everything else is a negative .Our rooms were not ready for over 2 hours. Luggage was sent to incorrect rooms and staff were not helpful. Our room was dirty, glass mirrors had finger prints all over it. Bathroom floor was not cleaned, hair and dirt everywhere. We had requested adjacent rooms which we never got inspite of being promised. The restaurant has terrible service, would not recommend to eat at hotel. The staff have no hospitality skills and don't care about their customers.

Unacceptable for a "5 star hotel"Day 1 chips were cold (same for other patrons)Day 2 Coke was served flat x2.Day 3 staff didn't know what spirits were available at the bar and then said there was no beverage menu available.Day 4 function food was slow to come out.The gym is poorly equipped.Admittedly the F&B manager was nice and did try to compensate.Really wished for a better experience, as the hotel itself is nice and is in a beautiful location.

Really great experience at the Crystalbrook Riley! The staff was awesome and when I mentioned that we were celebrating an engagement, they were able to move us up 4 floors and to the right to give us a stunning view of the water! They also gave us some wine and a rose pedal heart which was not asked for, and super nice of them!!The facilities are fantastic, and although we only used the pool area once since we were busy all day with activities, it was on the day we were checking out, so that was great for them to let us stay until the evening even without a room!Beautiful property all around, and highly recommend eating at the calypso club if it’s open for lunch or dinner. It’s really good and probably better than most restaurants in the area. Thanks to the staff and if we’re back in Cairns one day I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again! 5 stars!!

ETA: Amar was wonderful to work with. He looked into this charge and was able to determine the cause and rectify the issue. I would recommend friends and family stay here due to the level of service and professionalism provided after the fact. There’s no doubt this is a beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities. However, there were some very frustrating situations from this property. We were celebrating our honeymoon, and while never mandatory it was never acknowledged. This was a bummer more than anything, and doesn’t contribute to the star rating. The real issue was that upon check in I was told my ID was required for check in. That’s all valid and fine, I had no problems with this.(We did stay further north in Palm Cove which is where the ID was- so this was frustrating)When we came back to check in, my ID was not asked for. In addition, upon checking out I overheard another guest checking in and they were not asked for an ID. In fact, that guest even said ‘do you want to see my ID?’ And the front desk person said ‘no, I believe who you are’. The inconsistency is where I have pause about staying at a Crystalbrook again. In addition, that guest was given a brief summary of all of the amenities and details about the property that we did not receive upon check in.Lastly, I was charged for a second room and was reassured the charge would be removed multiple times- it never was. There was also a very loud and rude crowd of guests, speaking vulgar language outside our room around midnight, but that is not the fault of the Riley.

As a wheelchair user, I found this hotel pretty accessible. It has 16 accessible rooms, which is great. Our room was made up by housekeeping every day, which I loved! Even if you didn't want to wander outside of the hotel, the hotel has everything you need if you wanted to relax by the pools ( there are a few to choose from) for a couple of days. The room was a little bit small, but all in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The location is perfect! On a side note, some photos of the accessible rooms on the website would be a welcome for many!
